Celebrity Surfer Bethany Hamilton to Appear at The Mall at Millenia

Buckle at The Mall at Millenia will host a public appearance with Cobian Ambassador Bethany Hamilton – a famed celebrity surfer and inspirational speaker – in the Grand Court on Saturday, April 18 from noon to 2 p.m.

The event will begin with Hamilton serving an inspirational message of hope and resilience as she shares her personal story of how she lost her left arm in a tiger shark attack when she was 13 years old. Overcoming obstacles throughout her life, Hamilton, now 25, is ready to begin a new chapter – being a mom. Hamilton and husband Adam are expecting their first child in June. Area musical artist Nikki Viesins will also perform an acoustic set, as well as provide additional entertainment during the event.

Bethany’s Limited Edition Signature Sandal collection by Cobian is available for purchase at Buckle. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this signature sandal collection will be donated to “Friends of Bethany,” a non-profit organization supporting shark attack survivors and traumatic amputees.

“I live in sandals, so comfort and style are key ingredients to my collection,” said Hamilton. “It’s been fun to help design the line and share a little bit of what I like to wear in my daily life.”

The first 200 Buckle guests who make a Cobian sandal purchase at Buckle in The Mall at Millenia will receive an #everystepmatters wristband. Fans with a wristband will be granted access to the meet-and-greet line at the event, along with one approved item to be autographed and one photo with Hamilton.

“We are very excited to carry the Bethany Collection by Cobian at Buckle,” said Melissa Franzen, Buckle’s divisional merchandising manager, women’s merchandising. “Bethany is such an inspiring role model and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with her and Cobian to bring this exclusive event to our Buckle guests.”

Do you plan on attending? Come say “hi” as I, Mark Schaub, will be there to provide live coverage of the event.

My name is Mark and I’m a mall-aholic. As a native Orlandoan, I’ve been visiting them since I can remember. I’ve also worked in a couple and consider myself a self-appointed expert. There’s been a lot of change when it comes metro Orlando’s mall landscape, and I’ve taken it upon myself to chronicle it. Each mall has a story to tell, and having graduated from the University of Central Florida and double majored in journalism and radio/television, I feel I’m best equipped to make those stories come alive here at Orlando Mall Guide. So whether you’re a local or a tourist needing a shopping break from the attractions, I’m your hookup.
