Komen Central Florida Hosts “Tutu for Tatas” at Oviedo Mall

The Central Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Oviedo Mall will host “Tutu for Tatas” on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Oviedo Mall from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Featured at the event is a tutu-making workshop, in which mall visitors can pay to create their own pink tutu that can be worn at the 18th annual Race for the Cure on Saturday, Oct. 12 at BrightHouse Networks Stadium at the University of Central Florida.

There will also be a fashion show sponsored by Dillard’s, showcasing the latest fashions in both everyday wear and racewear to be modeled by local high school students and breast cancer survivors. Guests are encouraged to visit the Pink Lounge, also sponsored by Dillard’s, to receive mini-makeovers, cosmetic tips and samples from stores including Clinique, Christian Dior, Lancome, Estee Lauder and Origins. To top it all off, patrons can get in the Pink Booth where they can dress up and have their photo taken to share and promote breast cancer awareness.

In addition, participating Oviedo Mall merchants will offer discounts to customers who sport their tutus.

The event aims to encourage race registration for the Race for the Cure. Those who register for the race during “Tutu for Tatas” will receive $5 off their race registration.

My name is Mark and I’m a mall-aholic. As a native Orlandoan, I’ve been visiting them since I can remember. I’ve also worked in a couple and consider myself a self-appointed expert. There’s been a lot of change when it comes metro Orlando’s mall landscape, and I’ve taken it upon myself to chronicle it. Each mall has a story to tell, and having graduated from the University of Central Florida and double majored in journalism and radio/television, I feel I’m best equipped to make those stories come alive here at Orlando Mall Guide. So whether you’re a local or a tourist needing a shopping break from the attractions, I’m your hookup.
