Nordstrom Out at The Florida Mall — Two New Anchors Are In

Nordstrom announced that it will close its Florida Mall location on August 16, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

A spokeswoman for the mall informed OBJ via email that two new anchors will replace the department store that has been there since 2002, including an “exciting new concept” for the Orlando market (let the speculation begin with that one). It has not been announced when those stores will be revealed or when they will open.

These changes come as The Florida Mall is set open an American Girl store, debut a Zara flagship and establish a new indoor/outdoor food pavilion.

David Martin of Fox 35 Orlando gets word with Nordstrom President of Stores Jamie Nordstrom as well as asks shoppers their take on the store closing in the video below. As he points out, do not expect any store-closing sales as the August 16 date approaches.

My name is Mark and I’m a mall-aholic. As a native Orlandoan, I’ve been visiting them since I can remember. I’ve also worked in a couple and consider myself a self-appointed expert. There’s been a lot of change when it comes metro Orlando’s mall landscape, and I’ve taken it upon myself to chronicle it. Each mall has a story to tell, and having graduated from the University of Central Florida and double majored in journalism and radio/television, I feel I’m best equipped to make those stories come alive here at Orlando Mall Guide. So whether you’re a local or a tourist needing a shopping break from the attractions, I’m your hookup.
