After attending approximately 30 weddings in the last couple of years I'm approaching the baby‐boom stage of life. And with that come nursery inquires from friends. No matter what anyone's style age or lifestyle is I recommend Jenny Lind–style cribs and beds. Their whimsical spool detailing can easily work in a traditional transitional or eclectic home. A white Jenny Lind crib pops against the nursery's purple flat‐panel wainscoting. Pink paisley pairs with white Jenny Lind single beds to create the bedroom of every little girl's dreams. Thanks to its simple design Jenny Lind furniture is easy to pair with vibrant patterns. The white crib chain‐link rug and whimsical Roman shade fabric in this nursery prove just that. A pair of Jenny Lind single beds contributes to the vintage feel of this sporty bedroom. With customized bunting a white Jenny Lind crib a pouf and a butterfly mobile Parker's nursery is bursting with personality. The functional Jenny Lind trundle acts as an extra bed for sleepovers. Featuring Delta's Jenny Lind crib this nursery is brimming with charm. Stark white bedding makes a contrasting statement as it dresses a classic navy Jenny Lind crib.

Be inspired by your travels. "The perfect way to incorporate my client’s love of his Hawaiian travels into his traditional Craftsman bungalow master bath was to create a spalike focal point with this freestanding nickel‐lined copper tub" says Emily Gibson of Gibson Gimpel Interior Design. "Although the style is completely different from the Polynesian bungalows he enjoys on his vacations the tub evokes the unique and relaxing atmosphere of the luxury hotel that he experiences every day in his Dallas home". Take an artistic approach. "I think to really make a freestanding tub work you need space which is often not available in a standard bathroom says Jim Zack of Zack/deVito Architecture + Construction. "These clients were very hands on and selected this tub themselves but we were also thinking about the other materials in the bathroom. The sculptural quality of the stone and the craftsmanship of the stonework is amazing and this tub has a very sculptural quality to it which is enhanced by placing it on a plinth".

In the absence of natural light sconces and candlelight can create a warm feel. A gorgeous trumeau mirror works with the room's antique lighting for ultimate elegance. If a Venetian mirror is too small to make a room feel as big as a full‐length mirror can get the same effect by layering it over a sheet of plain mirror. More mirrors mean more glamour. The vanity Venetian mirror and shimmering tiles in this bathroom complement one another for a truly statement‐making look.

Warm up a cool palette. Raw natural materials can add a sense of calm and warmth to a pared‐down space. This wood paneling and farmhouse table introduce subtle texture and interest to the white gray and blue color scheme.

For buyers on the move choose a table that is easily transportable. For those who don't stay put a heavy table may prove to be an annoyance weighing you down each time you move. If you fall in love with a metal or marble table don't be discouraged from buying it but do think about how you might safely transport it. As suggested above choose a small round marble table or go for a wooden table with detachable legs. If you are looking for a table to suit an urban‐industrial decor theme don't go all‐out with a (heavy) metal table but consider a (lighter) wood table with some metal design features such as the one pictured here. Plastic as an alternative to wood is light and can be molded into some cool shapes but be aware that the color can fade over time.

Repurpose horseshoes in an artistic way. On this animal rescue ranch kicking off dusty boots and hanging one's hat upon opening the door are everyday occurrences. Designer Fellman (see the second photo) composed horseshoes found on the property and then had a metalworker solder them together.

Lights. If you have a well‐placed window in your kitchen but the angle does not invite a lot of light it could be a perfect place to add a pendant light. The fixture will help illuminate the counter and will give the feeling of a natural radiance emanating from the outdoors.

Stow extra toiletries and supplies under the sink or in bins or a nearby closet reducing visual clutter. Decant frequently used items into pretty containers or at least remove the unattractive outer packaging. Borrow accessories from elsewhere in your home. For instance cake stands dessert plates and teacups all make beautiful organizers. Use a fabric shower curtain not plastic. Remove the standard‐issue mirrored medicine cabinet in favor of a pretty mirror plus sconces.
