Details like shaped cabinet doors niches for spices and oils and decorative lighting should all be considered while working on the design development and finish/fixture selection.

Different chairs same color. Sort of like the trend in bridesmaids' dresses to have the ladies pick their own dresses as long as they are in the same hue mixing and matching chair shapes is easy when you match the color. It does help to choose chairs in the same general style (modern traditional) to keep them feeling like a set.

While the soft curves of a round mirror can add a more delicate feminine touch to a space two rectangular mirrors make a masculine statement in this bath. The frame of this mirror complements the vanity below perfectly while the sconces add further interest. An hourglass mirror in the center reflects onto the other surfaces in the room creating a 3‐D look. Get a look similar to two mirrors by framing a window with mirrors. These beautiful antique mirrors reflect the light from outside giving the whole room a golden glow.

Repeat the pattern on twin or triplet beds. Here an electric paisley pattern repeated on three beds and window treatments enlivens the room. Use remnants for a unique patchwork design. Creative decorator Cherie Marcel didn't let her fabric samples go to waste; instead she used them to fashion a fabulous headboard. Allow the patterned headboard to be the star of the bedscape. Keep the duvet and shams solid and with minimal detailing like this hotel‐style bedding and use a minimal amount of coordinating throw pillows. Coordinate with a bed skirt or a bed platform to create continuity. Pay attention to the way the pattern relates to the headboard's shape. Here the vertical stripes emphasize the point at the top of the headboard. Note the way the stripes on the bed skirt and the headboard align. If you don't have a headboard create the illusion of one by hanging a quilt on the wall above the bed. It can cozy up a room and create interesting proportions with dramatic height.

Green Sashes. Or try a dark green window sash. It's softer than black but still classic and neutral as it picks up the colors in nature. A magnificently tall ceiling like this one is beautiful but not required

Impress your guests. Marble is a big investment but without exception marble dining tables are nearly always showstoppers. Tables crafted from quality imported marble are extremely beautiful. Buy without guilt if you truly fall in love with one – marble's timeless appeal will make it a table that is always in fashion – but do be aware that a marble tabletop comes with a couple of drawbacks. First marble tables of any kind are bulky and heavy. Second they have to be well looked after as the marble can crack and stain. To overcome these limitations to buying a marble table as a forever piece choose a small round table which is a lighter choice than most rectangular ones while still being able to seat four to six guests. To avoid stains keep the table cleared and clean at all times covering it with a tablecloth or placemats when red wine and foods that can damage marble are on the menu.

Invest in a blue chip: A case for retro. Anything retro should be considered a keepsake piece of furniture that has the potential to be handed down from generation to generation. The dining table that catches your eye at a market or auction may not be particularly fashionable or even fit into your present decor scheme but don't let that deter you from buying something of quality and style from another era. It may well prove to be the best investment of all escalating in value in the decades to come.
