Rough hewn. This industrial‐style dining arrangement is easy to copy. Find a wood trestle table and some midcentury modern chairs and fit them into a small area of your home preferably with a window view. The tight space and brick and plaster walls give the dining area a congenial air.

Depending on what type of professional you hired or if you are doing your own kitchen you may start the finishes and fixture selection process from a different jumping‐off point. Rather than picking the cabinet wood species and finish color by itself and then picking countertops and tile I like to have my clients work on an overall palette of materials at the same time. Layer the materials and create collages of patterns textures and colors to see what works best together.

Enough's enough. Take care not to plan for more shelves than you need. Asian‐style homes tend to display only the most thoughtfully selected items so simple modern shelves that frame this fireplace top and bottom suit the space perfectly. Consider downlights as a way to give those display items pride of place.

Add some soft and rough. The color scheme here is simple but the effect is stunning. Look beyond the simple monochromatic palette and you'll see a range of textures at work. Contrast the matte black wall with the rough surface of the white painted bricks and the soft inviting bed throw with the rough natural‐fiber rug. Even the ceiling and artwork are textured. This is an all‐over tactile and visual feast.

If you favor cooler hues try a palette of blue‐grays then spice it up with hints of hot red. This is a terrific palette for an office or a kid's or teen's bedroom. The grays have a soothing vibe but the heart‐racing red injects some energy into the space.

Create an illusion. Where you choose to use light and dark colors can have a huge influence on a space. In this lofty white room the ceiling and walls down to the picture rail have been painted black helping to visually lower the high ceiling for a much cozier mood. Or try painting the end wall of a long narrow room black to visually bring it forward.

Same chairs different colors. Take a basic set of matching wooden chairs and put your own stamp on them by painting each one a different hue. The trick here is to choose colors that have the same value (lightness or darkness) like all pastels all midtones or all bright.
Rosetta Loreta Bathroom January 05th, 2017
Build a spiritual oasis. "The master bathroom in this project was part of a second floor remodel" says Anat Shmariahu of ANAV Design. "The clients wanted their bathroom to be their 'living room.' They are very busy people and the bathroom is a relaxing space for them a time for being together". "For me freestanding tubs represent luxury calm and a spalike environment which is exactly what my clients were looking for. We wanted to make this a spiritual environment so that when you enter you are immediately transported. The tub was actually purchased before we even finished the design. My clients just fell in love with it and it became the main focal point in this master bath".
