The Force Awakens at Orlando-Area Malls for Star Wars

May the Force be with you as you visit Orlando-area malls this week as legions of fans around the world anticipate the premiere of “Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens” on Dec. 18.

Star Wars aficionados have unknowingly been waiting for this since May 25, 1983, the release date for “Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi,” the movie that sequentially precludes the newest entry to the series. What happens after the events in “Return of the Jedi” will soon be revealed but not before retailers celebrate the movie’s impending opening.

The Star Wars brand can be seen at Orlando malls including Orlando Fashion Square. Coliseum of Comics features life-size cardboard stand-ups of Star Wars characters in the front window. Hot Topic reserved the entrance display and an entire wall to the franchise. There’s even a ton of girls apparel in Macy’s. That’s not to mention the giant posters promoting the film at Premiere Cinema 14.

Just like Luke Skywalker was unable to escape his destiny of saving the galaxy from the evil rule of the Empire, you will not be able to avoid seeing Star Wars-related promotions in almost every store you shop. Darth Vader is everyone’s daddy because Star Wars rules the world right now.

Enjoy a slideshow of Star Wars finds throughout Orlando-area malls. And be sure to find a showtime for “Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens” at an Orlando mall movie theater near you.

My name is Mark and I’m a mall-aholic. As a native Orlandoan, I’ve been visiting them since I can remember. I’ve also worked in a couple and consider myself a self-appointed expert. There’s been a lot of change when it comes metro Orlando’s mall landscape, and I’ve taken it upon myself to chronicle it. Each mall has a story to tell, and having graduated from the University of Central Florida and double majored in journalism and radio/television, I feel I’m best equipped to make those stories come alive here at Orlando Mall Guide. So whether you’re a local or a tourist needing a shopping break from the attractions, I’m your hookup.
